The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a long-wanted drug kingpin, Lekan Jimoh, alias Kanmo-Kanmo, 12 years after he allegedly masterminded the killing of three of its officers during a botched arrest operation. Jimoh was picked up on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Owode, Ogun State, following intelligence-led operations by NDLEA tactical teams. The Rivers house of assembly says Simeon Amadi, chief judge of the state, has acknowledged receipt of the impeachment notice against Siminalayi Fubara, the governor, and Ngozi Odu, his deputy. The supreme court has dismissed an appeal filed by Aminu Sule Lamido, son of Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa state. The appeal had challenged the decision of the trial court, which convicted him for failing to declare $40,000 at an airport. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Aminu on December 11, 2012, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, as he made to board a flight to Cairo in Egypt.
