The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 18 warehouses in Bida, Niger state. A statement on Thursday by the agency said the development followed the discovery of large quantities of expired food and beverage products “valued at over N100 million”. NAFDAC said the discovery was made by its investigation and enforcement team acting on credible intelligence. The warehouses sealed are located near Ndazabo White House along Minna road and behind Bida Modern market. Matthew Akande, a 37-year-old Nigerian, has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment by a United States court for stealing taxpayers’ information to obtain fraudulent tax refunds worth $1.3 million. Indira Talwani, a US district court judge in Boston, sentenced Akande to eight years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Gunmen have killed Kehinde Jacob Faledon, the traditional ruler of Agamo community, in Akure north LGA of Ondo state. The assailants invaded the monarch’s palace on Wednesday night and forcibly took him away. Minutes later, Faledon was found with gunshot injuries at a location very close to his residence. Jimoh Abayomi, the Ondo police spokesperson, said the traditional leader was confirmed dead at the scene of the incident.
