The Kano state police command says its operatives have arrested 41 suspects in connection with the killing of Baba Ali, divisional police officer (DPO) of Rano division. Ali was killed on Sunday after hoodlums attacked Rano police station and set some parts of it ablaze, alongside two vehicles. The attack followed the death of Abdullahi Musa, a motorcycle mechanic, who was arrested on Sunday evening after several complaints from the public alleging he rode around recklessly. federal high court in Abuja has rejected the evidence sought to be tendered by the federal government in the ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The federal government, through its third witness, an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS), has sought to tender video and documentary evidence which are the alleged confessional statements made by the defendant. The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) says 25 people have died, and more than 10 others are missing, following a flood in Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa communities in Mokwa LGA of the state. In a statement issued on Thursday, Abdullahi Arah, NSEMA director-general, said the flood also submerged and washed away over 50 residential houses with their occupants. The court of appeal in Abuja has upheld the judgment of the Edo state governorship petitions tribunal, which affirmed the election of Monday Okpebholo as governor of the state. Delivering judgment on Thursday, a three-member panel of the appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo. Mohammed Danjuma, who delivered judgment on behalf of the panel, held that the appeal was devoid of merit.
