Oyo State’s land administration system has witnessed a remarkable transformation under the purposeful leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde. Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, affirmed that the administration has successfully redefined the processes surrounding Certificates of Occupancy (CofO), building plan approvals, and property verification through strategic digitalization reforms.
According to the Commissioner, procedures once slowed by bureaucracy and manual bottlenecks are now technology-driven, ensuring faster turnaround time, enhanced transparency, and greater institutional efficiency. The digitization of CofO applications and building plan approvals has reduced human interference, minimized delays, and strengthened public trust in the system.
He further highlighted the introduction of the Property Search Initiative, a reform designed to enable individuals, developers, and investors to verify land titles and ownership records seamlessly. This initiative is curbing fraudulent land transactions, promoting due diligence, and creating a more secure real estate environment across the state.
Commissioner Akin-Funmilayo Williams noted that these reforms are boosting internally generated revenue, improving investor confidence, and positioning Oyo State as a leading destination for sustainable urban and property development.
