The Supervisory Councillor for Transport in Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Teslim Badmus popularly known as Tessy, has commended the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, for his timely and people-oriented intervention through the free distribution of fuel palliatives to over 500 commercial motorcycle (okada) riders across the local government.
Hon. Tessy described the gesture as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership and empathy for grassroots workers who depend daily on transportation for their livelihoods. According to him, the fuel palliative has significantly eased the burden on okada riders amid prevailing economic challenges and rising operational costs.
The distribution exercise, which cut across major operational zones including General Gas, Akobo Ojurin, Olorunda Abaa, Wofun Kute, and Iwo Road, was well received by beneficiaries, many of whom expressed gratitude to the council chairman for remembering them at a critical time.
Speaking on behalf of the transport stakeholders in Lagelu, Hon. Teslim Badmus noted that Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has continued to prioritize the welfare of transport operators, recognizing their vital role in local mobility, economic sustenance, and community development.
“This intervention goes beyond fuel; it is a morale booster for our okada riders and a reaffirmation that the present administration listens and responds to the needs of the people,” Hon. Badmus stated.
Recall last year that phase one of the fuel palliative has been demonstrated to over 200 Okada riders across the axis of Igbo-Elerin, Lagun, Ejioku, Lalupon and Iyana Offa which completely make the overall beneficiaries to 700+.
Hon Tessy further assured that the Transport Department would continue to collaborate with the council leadership to implement policies and initiatives that promote the welfare, safety, and productivity of transport operators across Lagelu Local Government.
The fuel palliative initiative adds to a growing list of people-centered programs under the leadership of Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development.
