The by-election, held on August 16, 2025, to replace the late Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), saw Hon. Oyekunle secure 18,404 votes, decisively defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Adewale Olatunji (Murphy), who polled 8,312 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The victory affirmed the PDP’s dominance in Ibadan North and highlighted the electorate’s trust in the party’s vision, largely credited to the transformative governance of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Balogun Seye Famojuro, a key ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, arrived at Bodija Market to a rapturous welcome from traders, artisans, and community members.
