The member representing Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), has congratulated Muslim faithful and Christians across Lagelu Local Government on the sighting of the crescent moon and Easter fasting signaling the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a goodwill message released to mark the beginning of the 1447AH Ramadan fast, Hon. Akintunde described the sacred period and coincident fasting among both faith as a time for deep spiritual reflection, renewed devotion, and acts of compassion toward humanity. He noted that Ramadan and Lent offers a unique opportunity for believers to strengthen their relationship with one another, embrace discipline, and foster unity within communities.
The lawmaker extended warm felicitations to all Muslim and Christian constituents, urging them to observe the fasting period with sincerity, humility, and steadfast prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity in Lagelu Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large. He emphasized that the values of sacrifice, charity, and tolerance inherent in Ramadan align with the collective aspiration for a more harmonious and inclusive society.
Hon. Akintunde further encouraged residents of Lagelu, regardless of religious affiliation, to support one another and uphold the spirit of coexistence that the holy month represents. He prayed that the blessings of Ramadan bring divine mercy, good health, and abundant rewards to every household in the constituency.
“On this auspicious sighting of the Ramadan crescent, I rejoice with all Muslim faithful in Lagelu. May this holy month strengthen our faith, purify our hearts, and unite us in the shared pursuit of peace and development,” he stated.
He wished all fasting Muslims a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and successful completion of the sacred obligation.
