There was tension at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Summit in Ibadan on Wednesday as Saheed Akinaade Fijabi was forced out of the venue following protests by party youths over his recent association with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
Fijabi, who was recently appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Anniversary Committee, had during the logo unveiling hinted at the possibility of defecting to the PDP.
Immediately Fijabi entered the hall, aggrieved youths began chanting statements such as “We don’t want him” and “Send him out of this place,” creating a rowdy atmosphere that disrupted proceedings.
Despite attempts to calm the situation, the chants intensified, forcing some APC members to escort Fijabi out of the venue amid continued protests.
The incident underscores growing internal discontent within the APC in Oyo State, particularly among youth members who view Fijabi’s recent engagements with the PDP-led government as a betrayal of party loyalty.
