Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra elections, has been shot by unknown gunmen in Abuja.
The assailants reportedly attacked Ezenwafor on Friday night around the Wuse 2 area of the capital city while he was returning home from an appointment.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the city.
“I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” Leadership newspaper quoted Ezenwafor as saying on Saturday.
Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, has yet to respond to TheCable’s inquiry for confirmation as of the time of this report.
Josephine Adeh, police spokesperson in the federal capital territory (FCT), assured TheCable of a response about the incident when contacted.
However, there was no update from Adeh at the time of filing this report.
Ezenwafor, a former presidential aspirant under the Labour Party (LP) before returning to the PDP, was recently confirmed as the party’s flagbearer for the state’s governorship election coming up on November 8.
