Former Vice-president Atiku Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna; and Boss Mustapha, former secretary to the government of the federation, on Wednesday, visited the graveside of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina state.
Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, also visited Buhari’s family in Daura to condole with the family.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state between 1983 and 1985, and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, died on Sunday in a London clinic.
His body was flown into Nigeria on Tuesday accompanied by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu received the remains at the Katsina Airport, accompanied by a government delegation.
The late president was laid to rest the same day in his hometown, with full military honours.
Buhari was buried in a spot where he usually sat in his compound’s garden when he was alive.

Military pallbearers wheeled Buhari’s body, draped in the colours of the Nigerian flag, to the graveside in a trolley. Gunshots were fired as a mark of respect for the former president and commander-in-chief.
The funeral was attended by dignitaries and thousands of mourners who paid their final respects to the late former president.
