Popular TikToker Umar Hashim, known as Tsulange, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment by a Magistrate Court in Kano State.
He was found guilty of indecent public conduct after appearing in a viral comedy skit where he bathed on a public road wearing women’s undergarments.
Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan ruled that the content violated public decency and morality. Tsulange was given the option of paying an ₦80,000 fine instead of serving the jail term.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay ₦20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board, which brought the charges.
Tsulange was arrested in June 2025 after the skit’s release. The case has sparked considerable debate online, highlighting the tension between contemporary internet culture and conservative societal norms, particularly in northern Nigeria where strict censorship laws are enforced.
