A statement shared via the Oyo ’n Pe O social media page addressed criticism of Hamzat’s transition from broadcasting to politics. It read:
“The phrase ‘Governance goes beyond speaking into a microphone’ is often used by critics of Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, implying that his broadcasting background is inadequate for leadership. But such a notion stems from a lack of understanding about true leadership. Broadcasting requires communication, empathy, and a deep connection with the people – all essential qualities for governance.”
The post further emphasized that Dr. Hamzat’s career success reflects his ability to listen, relate to the public, and address societal issues.
“Those dismissing his potential based on profession are either misinformed or motivated by narrow biases. Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about vision, service, and the ability to inspire.”
