In Nigeria today, the act of collecting a non-refundable caution fee from house seeking client among the association of agent and estate management after paying house rent and agent fee has been a miserable thing in our society.
This caution fee (as it’s sounded) is one that will be paid by the tenant before packing in to the apartment rented, but supposed to be refunded back after their money is due and no longer occupy the space if discovered nothing got spoilt within the rented apartment.
Having said that, this act led a tenant that paid N250,000 as caution fee to destroy every part of the building after he was denied refund of his money been paid as Caution fee.
